For the Sandwich
- 4 slices Bread Sourdough, white, or whole wheat
- 2 tablespoons Butter Softened
- ½ cup Marinara or Pizza Sauce Homemade or store-bought
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Part-skim for a healthier option
- ¼ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- ¼ cup Turkey Pepperoni Optional; can replace with veggies
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- ¼ cup Chopped Fresh Basil For garnish
Directions
Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice, then sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
On the unbuttered side, layer marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and your choice of toppings. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
Place a skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
