Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound chicken breast, diced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Add the diced chicken to the skillet, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the orzo pasta, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the shredded Gruyère cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
