Equipment

  • large pot
  • large skillet

Ingredients

For the Pasta

  • 8 ounces Pasta Use your favorite shape like penne or fusilli; opt for whole grain for added fiber.

For the Sauce

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can be substituted with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can be exchanged with vegetable or canola oil if needed.
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped) Adds a natural sweetness; shallots can be used for a milder flavor.
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) Fresh garlic is preferred for a robust taste.
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Consider half-and-half for a lighter alternative.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Low-sodium broth is ideal to control saltiness.
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Try using Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning A homemade blend is a great option.
  • Salt and Pepper Adjust to taste especially if using salty cheese or broth.

For Garnishing

  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped) Feel free to substitute with basil or chives for a fresh twist.

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing salted water in a large pot. Bring it to a rolling boil, ready for your pasta to swim in!
  • Add your favorite pasta shape and cook according to package guidelines until al dente. Drain it and set aside while you create the sauce.
  • In a large skillet, pour in olive oil over medium heat. This will be the foundation for sautéing and infusing flavors into your dish.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and let it cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Incorporate the ground beef into the skillet. Cook it for 5-7 minutes until browned, stirring as needed.
  • Stir in the beef broth and heavy cream, mixing well to create a creamy base for your sauce.
  • Add in the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan until it melts into the sauce.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly in the creamy sauce.
  • Dish up your creamy pasta while warm and garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan as desired.
