Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line the bottom and sides of a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Make the crumble mixture: Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles pea-sized crumbles.
  • Whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla together in a small bowl. Pour over the flour/butter mixture and mix until it resembles moist crumbly sand.
  • Set 2 cups of the crumble mixture aside. Pour the remaining into the prepared pan and flatten to form an even crust.
  • For the cranberry filling: Mix all filling ingredients together and spread over the crust. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture and almonds on top.
  • Bake for about 40-50 minutes until browned. Allow to cool completely.
  • Make the icing: Whisk together and drizzle over cooled bars, then cut into squares.
  • Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

Iced or plain bars freeze well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
