Ingredients
  

Brown Sugar/Cinnamon Mixture

  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Apple Bread Loaf Recipe

  • ½ cup butter softened
  • cup sugar
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk or almond milk room temperature

Chopped Apple Mixture

  • 2 large apples peeled and chopped small
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Old-Fashioned Creme Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1-3 tablespoons milk or cream depending on thickness of glaze wanted

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a 9x5-inch loaf pan and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Mix ⅓ cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Whisk together 1 ½ cups flour and 1 ¾ teaspoon baking powder in a bowl. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat ⅔ cup sugar and ½ cup softened butter until creamy.
  • Add 2 eggs, one at a time, blending well. Stir in 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture, followed by ½ cup milk, until smooth.
  • Toss chopped apples with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl.

Assembling and Baking

  • Pour half the apple bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread out, then top with half the chopped apple mix.
  • Sprinkle ½ of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture on top.
  • Repeat: Pour the remaining apple bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with remaining chopped apple mixture.
  • Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture on top.
  • Use a knife to swirl through the mixture a few times.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 60 minutes.

Glaze

  • To make glaze, mix ½ cup powdered sugar and 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or cream together until well mixed.
  • Let loaf rest in pan for about 15 minutes before removing from pan to cool on a cooling rack. Drizzle with glaze.
  • If you want more glaze, make a double batch.

Notes

This bread is best enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
